Mitomycin is an antineoplastic drug isolated from the culture medium of actinomycetes. It is effective against many solid tumors and is one of the commonly used non-specific periodic drugs. From the structure point of view, it has benzoquinone, urethane and vinyl imino groups. After being activated by reductase, it can depolymerize DNA and antagonize DNA replication. At high concentration, the synthesis of RNA and protein was also inhibited. It mainly acts on late G1 and early s stages. It also works under acidic and hypoxic conditions. Drug resistance is mainly caused by the decrease of cell membrane permeability, the decrease of intracellular concentration, the acceleration of degradation and the so-called mutation selection mechanism.
